AFM Records – Out Now

cover

A nice opener, this band is much in the vein of MasterPlan and as such knows how to deliver a fast opener without over doing the speed and hitting the right kind of chorus for epic power metal. Moving heavier and slower for the next track, “Shiver” followed by the catchy “Cold As Ice” to really hit the power home and giving a nice start to the album, this seems to be a working formula for bands at the moment.

The next few tracks really are a great mix of heavy and slow with some great runs and lows like the track “Friendly Fire” and all coming to an end at a soft based love song that has a dark tone, textbook.

I am a MasterPlan fan and although these guys have done more than MP, I knew of them first and so cant help but compare, this became a problem as although the album is very well made and well organised I couldn’t shake the fact that it sounded exactly like an MP album and therefore it came off as unoriginal. This is not me slating the album though, in fact, I love it, just loses originality points… but hell, what is overly original these days.

The album is great and if you like MP then you will love this album! 7/10
