› Rob Rock – Garden of Chaos

AFM Records – Out Now

cover

From the start of the album we get fast and technical, good intro to the album. It snags you on the line from the start. The title track really delivers a powerful vocal and nicely technical arrangement. From this we move to a heavier track, Satan’s Playground, that’s much more my style and much more headbangin’ with a great chorus that just is easy to sing along and rock out to, also not missing the great guitar solo in the middle, this track just screams rock!

More fast and heavy tracks follow with both “This time is the last time” and “Only a matter of time”, keeping me happy, a great opener followed by a very good feel, but by this time I did feel a little repetition, maybe brought on by the time names being one after the other. The guitars start to get very similar and the solos too long in it’s “Only a matter of time”, this is great if you’re a guitar solo fan, but for me it gets old. This, however, doesn’t last as once we reach “Metal Breed” it goes to more heavy and less fuss guitar work, something I think most albums miss.

This doesn’t go to the next track which reverts back to fancy guitar work, sadly its only now that the album gets a couple of softer tracks, both of which are superb and really do the album credit.

All in all the album has some great tracks but the arrangement is all wrong, there’s no break in the fast and heavy making a feel of the album becoming generic and all the track bleeding into one and other, which is a shame as the two final tracks better places could have really broken the album up and given it a much better full listen feel!

The album is not without merit however and I give it a 6.5/10
