› Blaze – Alive in Poland
Metal Mind Productions

Rumours of a Blaze DVD have been circulating for years and even a failed attempt happened way back which saw its way to a fan club release, but now at long last the live show has been captured on DVD to enjoy in your own living room.
The problem is though it is probably 5 years to late. 5 years ago when the original Blaze band were kicking up a storm they were a superb tight knit band who played with a complete backs to the wall, us against the world attitude and that passion is lacking from this show. It’s not that the band are bad (well apart from now ousted drummer Rico Banderra who’s drumming is as bad as his perm at times), its just that this was this line ups first real gig together, and you can tell. Blaze himself puts in a sterling performance and his vocals are superb from start to finish, but the band do look and sound nervous and Blaze carries them instead of bringing them along for the ride.
That said, for those who missed the first few tours this is a good stepping stone into the live world of Blaze and there are several highlights on the disc to enjoy. My personal favourite has to be the superb X-Factor track Look for the Truth which is sung by Blaze from the front row of the crowd simply faultlessly before returning to the stage with his shirt practically ripped from his body to belt out the Tenth Dimension classic Kill and Destroy.
The whole package is a very well put together one which is well recorded and features bonus material of the Hollow Head video and an interview with Blaze, and on the deluxe edition you even get a double audio CD of the gig, so for fans of the man/band, you certainly get good value for money and a nice bit of history. However, I finished viewing this thinking if only, if only it was the original band at the top of their game, or if only the new band had been given the chance to really gel together and do justice to the songs.
7/10
