› Ravens Creed – Militia of Blood Sacrifice
Land O Smiles
Years ago before Black Metal disappeared up its own symphonic, corpse paint riddled arse it was a form of music that was basically a completely raw type of metal, mixing punk ethics and metals imagery, with a heavy dose of Satan thrown in for good measure.
Now with Ravens Creed featuring members of Orange Goblin and the legendry Iron Monkey, Black Metal is returning to its roots. The Militia of Blood Sacrifice EP (on vinyl for real authenticity!) dives back in time to when the likes of Venom and Bathory were the scariest bands on the planet creating a god awful din that had your parents thinking you’d turned to the darkside.
Without being a copy cat act Watson, Ward, Graham and Millard churn out quality Black Metal that would happily sit alongside the old giants of the scene and that gives an old bastard like me a shit eating grin back across my face. Even the song titles make you feel like you’ve been run over by a WW2 tank and by the end of playing this EP, with a brief pause to change sides, you know that along with The Meads of Asphodel, Ravens Creed are gonna reclaim Black Metal for the Brits!.
8/10
