Thrash Anthems is a set of re-recordings covering the best of the German thrash legends' work over the last 22 years . I have to admit to not being at all familiar with their work. I have always been aware of their existence, but never actually got around to checking them out, so I'm pretty glad I got given this album to review.
The first track, Bestial Invasion, originally found on the bands debut album Infernal Overkill, sets the standard for the album. The track is an unrelenting, pounding slab of thrash metal. Awesome riffing, old school thrash vocals, and perfect blast beat. From here on in, it's nonstop thrash, easy a rival to the more popular thrash bands such as Slayer, Testament, Early Metallica and Anthax!
Listening to all these songs as a newbie to Destruction, I have to say that Death Trap, Desposition and Sign of Fear are my fave tracks. However, every track on this album is an awesome demonstration of thrash at it's best. The recordings are crisp, loud and clear, mixed to perfection for maximum carnage. I could imagine this band would be a bone crushing experience to see live, and I certainly look forward to the day when I get a chance to see them!
